(Rom 15:4 – ESV) For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
(Acts 28:23 – ESV) …From morning till evening he [Paul] expounded to them, testifying to the kingdom of God and trying to convince them about Jesus both from the Law of Moses and from the Prophets.
Another new year is approaching. Reading these verses, I am wondering, if it wouldn’t be worth to use the new year 2017 to read through the whole Bible with our focus on what we can learn from each and every passage of Scripture about the Lord Jesus Christ – who He is, what His ministry has been and will be etc.
In order to worship the Father in truth and in spirit (Joh 4:23), we also have to worship His Son in truth and in spirit (Joh 5:23) So, wouldn’t „God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ“ (Rom 1:7) not be worth it to study His eternal Word through the year of 2017 with the special focus on getting to know Him, His Character, His Being and His Ministry better – even from all the writings of the Old Testament?!
Will you dare it?
(Lk 24:44 – ESV) Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”
(Lk 24:27 – EMTV) And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He [Jesus] expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
