„Pray the Sinner’s Prayer“? „Ask Jesus into your Heart“? Altar call? How does a person become saved? How should we present the Gospel in a Biblical way? Here an interesting way used by Good Tree Ministries.com HERE and HERE:
Have Faith in Jesus – Not in a Prayer!
The Sinners prayer is a false gospel of the modern-day church movement.
There is no such thing anywhere in the Bible as the Sinners Prayer. Many people today, confessing to be Christians, put the Sinners Prayer as the object of why they are save and not Jesus. We are not supposed to put any faith or trust in anything other thing than the person and work of Jesus Christ Himself.
The teaching that salvation is gained by asking God to save you or by asking Jesus to come into your heart is wrong . Also repeating a certain group of right words or saying a certain prayer will not guarantee a person is saved. Salvation is given to a person because of their repentant faith alone in the person and work of Jesus Christ upon the cross without praying a prayer.
An altar call resulting in leading a person through the sinners prayer is what many church services end with. In fact this is even after there has been no gospel presented. How is this suppose to save someone when the Gospel is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes?(Romans 1:18) This would make the Sinners Prayer some kind of get out of jail free card or a magic set of words to save a person.
I was a false convert for over 10 years of my life. I prayed the sinners prayer many times after walking an aisle. I was always confused on why there was not real change in my life. It turned out that the object of my faith was the Sinners Prayer. I was trusting in a decision and not Christ Jesus.
Jesus is the only way through which a person can be saved. God is Holy and no one besides God is good. So we have the problem of our sin before a Holy and Just God that will judge every single sin. Jesus paid for the sins of all who will believe in Him. He accomplished this by living a perfect live, dying on the cross, going to the grave, and rising on the third day.
If a person puts their faith alone in Jesus Christ they will be saved. Do not put your trust in anything you or someone besides Jesus has done. A person is regenerated by the Holy Spirit (Born Again) through hearing the gospel. Once a person is born again they will repent and believe the gospel.
If it is not a life of repentance and belief unto the end they were never saved in the first place. Only those who endure to the end, through the power of the Holy Spirit, will be saved.
Before we get to far let’s say that the bible clearly shows us that a person is saved by faith alone apart from works. (John 3:16; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5-7) We believe Jesus Christ accomplished everything needed to be saved already! Jesus lived the perfect life, died on the cross, went to the grave, and rose on the third day. Jesus‘ terms of salvation are to repent and believe the good news. (Mark 1:15)
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) Faith is a gift from God and not of ourselves. (Ephesians 2:8-9) So faith is a gift from God to enable a person to know God and to believe in God. Faith is given to a person through hearing the gospel and regeneration from the Holy Spirit.(Romans 1:16; John 3:5-8) Once a person is given faith to believe, they respond by repentance and faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone for salvation.
Faith is basically a work of God done through us. God is the one who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13) For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10) Faith without works is Dead. (James 2:17)
To just believe alone and have no good works is no better than a demon faith! You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. (James 2:19) So as you can see easy believism is a demon faith and not of God. If God began a good work in you He will finish it. (Philippians 1:6) Jesus is the author and perfecter of faith. (Hebrews 12:2) If God worked in you He will also work out from you. A true Christian works out from what God has and will do inside them.
Christians grow at different rates. Only God truly knows if another person is saved. We should not judge other people’s salvation but examine our own. Examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.(2 Corinthians 13:5) Do you really know Jesus? Do you have a faith that produces good works (lordship salvation) or do you have a demon faith without good fruit? We cannot make Jesus Lord, he already is Lord. We do not ask Jesus in to our hearts. We respond to what He has already done by repentance and faith
